James & Vangie Odongo (GNCC Founders & Directors) worked with Youth With A Mission (YWAM)IMG_3417
for 12 years. They’ve worked as missionaries in Kenya, Philippines and Australi
a. They led Discipleship Training School, pioneered the School of Worship in Kenya, and led teams to the local churches both in Kenya and Australia. Before they left YWAM, they were in charge of theYWAM Training Centre in Athi River, Kenya.

When our commitment in YWAM ended in 2002, God put their heart in Isaiah 61 and they knew that Kisumu was the place to begin fulfilling this scripture. Their passion is to evangelize through practical approaches and to disciple those whom they have evangelized. Since June 2005, they have been pioneering Good News Community Centre in Kisumu.

They thank the Lord for enabling them to provide sheep for widows, tin-roof huts for widows, water wells, bee hives, a veggies garden, begin a sewing training school and business and an on-going Bible Study for Ouya ‘Blessing’ widow’s group. Over 20 orphans are on regular sponsorship program, and we have purchased 2 acres of land for boarding school for orphans. We have established and sustained two Good News Preschools and have planted two churches, one in Riat and one in Ouya. And lastly, through the ministry of Good News Community Centre, we rejoiced over 800 people who had given their lives to the Lord and look forward to what God will continue to do through Good News Community Centre.

Please join us in prayer as we serve to bring glory and honor to God and expand his Kingdom.
